Peanut Butter Sauce ~ The Best You’ll Ever Taste

Peanut Butter Sauce ~ The Best You’ll Ever Taste

Peanut butter sauce is a delicious way to have something a little different on your pancakes, waffles, or ice cream. It is quick and easy, so you don’t have to deal with a long, complex recipe. In fact, you can make it while you are waiting for the ice cream to soften.

This recipe is pretty straightforward. It calls for pure maple syrup, but you can substitute 2 tablespoons of honey or light corn syrup.

The peanut butter that you choose also makes a difference. Go for one that is as pure as possible, just peanuts and maybe salt. Choose peanut butter without palm oil. You don’t need a bunch of stuff in your peanut butter to make it good. It may not be as smooth as if you used the oil and chemical-laden varieties, but it will be delicious — and you will know exactly what you are feeding your family.

Peanut Butter Sauce

Learn how to make peanut butter sauce for ice cream or for other desserts. It’s ideal to livens up vanilla ice cream or fluffy pancakes. It makes a great addition to a breakfast bar or dessert bar with toppings. Yum!

Use these step-by-step directions to make this peanut butter sauce recipe. It’s so easy and takes just 5 minutes to prep and 5 minutes to cook on the stovetop.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup natural peanut butter
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons pure maple syrup or honey
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ teaspoon Vietnamese cinnamon

Be sure to choose palm oil free peanut butter. Choose labels that contain only peanuts or peanuts and salt. Avoid “No Stir” labels. These contain palm oil. Do not use peanut butter spreads. These also include added ingredients, including palm oil and mono- & diglycerides (typically made from palm oil).

How to Make Peanut Butter Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the peanut butter, whipping cream, maple syrup, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  2. Continue stirring over low heat until the sugar is dissolved, the ingredients are well blended, and the sauce has a smooth consistency. NOTE: If you are using a natural peanut butter you might not get the super smooth consistency, but that won’t affect the flavor. In fact, it will be even better! Be careful that you don’t overcook the sauce though. If it gets too thick you can add a little water, but if you don’t overcook it that should not be a problem.

  3. When it is cooked through, remove from the heat and allow to cool, either in the pan or in a container. Use while it is still warm. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Homemade Sauce

You can use this peanut butter sauce if you want extra richness to Thai foods as well as breakfast foods, toast, and desserts.

Store-bought ice cream toppings are off limits in my house because my son is allergic to palm oil. Having a palm oil allergy and palm oil intolerance means I make most all desserts from scratch. I make a delicious chocolate sauce that I put in chocolate milkshakes. I also put this pb sauce in it sometimes.

I love making desserts with peanuts and nuts (see my walnut pie recipe) because they are a bit healthier and have more protein than flour-based desserts. However, my biggest priority is making palm oil free desserts and other foods my son can safely eat.
